Hay Bath

In days gone by, it is a well known fact that during the hay making season, farmers often used to sleep on beds of hay, and awake the following morning well rested and regenerated both in the mind and in the body. Without realising it, had actually discovered a natural therapeutic treatment.

The Gimillan hay contains many medicinal herbs such as lady’s Mantle, Yarrow, Cross-weed, Couch-grass, straw, Arnica, Rye-grass and Valerian which are particularly suitable for treating articular pain.
Today, our Hay Bath treatments are carried out in an authentic eighteenth century “lit clos” (closed bed), where we recreate this antique process of fermentation by warming the Gimillan hay with vapour.
